The law enforcement community is divided on initiative 594 which would expand the universal background check to include sales at gun shows and private sales. It would also include gits and loans.

This Columbian article outlines the different view points from both sides. One thing it doesn’t address is the inefficiency around executing these background checks for ever sale. Maybe before we enact more laws we need to make sure the government is ready to handle the work involved.
