Rapaport reports that prices for certified polished diamonds has declined in 2 popular size categories. 1CT. Diamonds declined 2.4% in July .30CT. Diamonds declined 1.3% in July. The .30 to .50CT. category continued to rise 0.3% in July ,making the total increase from January 1,2014 to 7.1% Demand for this category remains strong despite softness in other categories. The weaker demand for the 1 CT category has prompted some Indian cutters to reduce their prices. This category has remained close to even all year.
