Chicago is one of the country’s most violent cities, according to Uniform Crime Reports, which forced The Chicago City Council to pass strict gun sale laws on stores. The unanimously approved ordinance allows gun sales in only a small percentage of the city and forces gun stores to video-record sales and limits the purchase of guns to once a month for gun buyers. The new ordinance also requires gun shop employees to pass background checks and learn how to “spot and stop ‘straw purchases.'”
