A former Isle of Palms Captain, Dawn Caldwell, was arrested on allegedly stealing evidence and equipment from the police evidence room for the Isle Of Palms Police Department, and pawning the items for thousands of dollars in return. Caldwell was charged with misconduct in office and breach of trust by The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED). She was custodian in the evidence room and pawned more than $2,000 worth at a local pawn shop between 2009-2013. Additionally, she was charged in pawning her “department-issued Glock pistol” on two separate occasions.
