The historic blue moon diamond was found in the Cullinan mine in South Africa — where 65% of the world’s diamond production is sourced. The blue moon was cut down from around 30 carats to 12 by diamond-maker Cora International. Cora International Chief Executive Officer Suzette Gomes explains the process to Bloomberg’s Alix Steel.

Suzette Gomes, Chief Executive Officer at The New York  headquarters of Cora International LLC, says that “you can’t describe that blue, you just drown in it,” referring to the Blue Moon diamond. In February, Cora paid $25.6 million for the uncut, 29.6-carat stone.
